With the next Tanner Gun show fast approaching, many people may be looking for a handgun.  We’ve found a six-step guide that could be useful for purchasing your first handgun. Let yourself become informed and read this list below.

1. Evaluate your intended use – People buy guns for a variety of reasons, but you should talk to the seller to see if maybe there are other options for your needs.

2. Set a budget – Depending on your budget you may be able to get a variety of guns that work for your price level.

3. Decide new or used – Entirely a personal preference based on buying habits. A used gun could be in great condition for a great price.

4. Choose a size – This again looks are your intended use, do you want to carry, or have for protection in the house? Do you have large hands or want something smaller and more nimble?

5. Choose an appropriate caliber – choose a caliber that meets your shooting needs,  a large caliber may have good stopping power but may be harder to shoot.

6. Pay attention to how it feels – Most importantly, it is important to know how a gun feels.  The best trick is to hold as many guns as possible then when you feel the right one, you’ll know.
